Heroes Welcome Home: REALTORS Who Serve Military Families

A couple of weeks ago I was able to attend an educational training session focused on military families, and their housing needs. While most people might consider an all day training event a challenge, I had actually been looking forward to the event since I first heard it was being offered.

As a former employee of the Department of Veterans Affairs, I take great pride in offering my services and appreciation to service member, veterans, and their families. This seven hour training event included guest speakers who were currently serving, veterans, and a special panel of military spouses who shared their experiences and concerns with moving, military life, family, and real estate.

The focus of the curriculum as SABOR states is to "prepare REALTORS® to serve returning U.S. military and their families by helping them address their housing needs."

To be honest, it was so much more than that. It was an opportunity to engage with our service members, veterans, and families, and more importantly to understand more about their experience in regard to the service and level of care I can offer as an agent.

I encourage other Realtors to take the course the next time it is available. It would be to your benefit, and to the benefit our military personnel, veterans, and their families.

I also encourage service members, and veterans to consider contacting any agent who has completed this course as they would have a better understanding of your needs, and concerns.

As always, thank you for your service!
