Real Estate in Winter

What happens to the real estate market in winter?  Do sellers take down their listings, and shut their doors?  Or, do buyers hole up and hold off on searching for their perfect home until the weather clears up?

Well, lucky for us here in San Antonio, neither happens to often IF you are working with the right real estate agent, and team.

San Antonio, and Texas are showing economic and population growth, and according to Dan Hatfield, chairman of the Texas Association of REALTORS®. “People are moving to Texas from across America and around the world to take part in our state’s booming economy, business-friendly environment and quality of life.”

The winter months may seem to provide a natural slow down in sales, but they also provide serious buyers, which makes it a great time to list your home.  If you need more proof, check out this article in December's issue of REALTORMag, the official magazine of the National Association of Realtors. Below is one of the reasons they state Winter is the Best Time to Sell:
Researchers say the winter market is less competitive for sellers since many people tend to wait until the spring to list. The smaller inventory of active listings help sellers get more attention from buyers on their properties. Also, many large corporations often transfer employees or hire new ones early in the year, creating opportunities for winter sellers from very motivated purchasers.
What does this mean for you?
